Creative Ways to Motivate Staff

Ever wonder why some stores have so many managers? Offering a more prestigious title is one way to keep staff motivated. This technique may work on some employees but the additional pressure may override the benefits. If a pay increase is not offered at some point, ultimately that individual may feel he or she is being taken advantage of.

A better way to motivate employees is to provide some immediate incentive with a time limit caveat. The so called "employee of the month" shows appreciation but keeps that worker on his/her toes. Seeing the person's name on an award certificate may be an honor but the best awards come with extra incentives (small bonuses, store credits, etc.) as not everyone cares about the honor but financial compensation is rarely not appreciated.
