Optimizing Productivity with Proper Lighting
The right lighting in your office can make a significant difference in your productivity. Too much or too little light can strain your eyes. Although
everyone should have an annual eye exam, before assuming you need glasses, consider adjusting your work environment. If glare is bothering you, sometimes
just moving a light source or switching to a lower wattage bulb can
reduce or eliminate eye strain.
How to Choose the Best Light for Work
Ambient lightening refers to all the light on scene which can be natural but may also consist of artificial light provided that light is not used for
the purpose of capturing the moment on film or digital media. A camera flash would therefore not be an example of ambient light but sunlight, interior
lighting, street lighting, stars or any combination of such would constitute ambient light. Knowing the correct balance of lighting for your office
is key to a productive work environment. Some people prefer recessed lights as they disperse light more evenly throughout a room. Others may prefer lamp lighting
for a more tranquil setting. If you are not sure what type of lighting is best for you, try using a lamp first and if lighting is insufficient,
perhaps a ceiling mounted light with a good cover would be preferable.
